Benno Lagerwey is a musician and writer who was born and raised in Haarlem. He’s left-handed and like Jimi Hendrix taught himself to play on a right-handed guitar; unlike Jimi, however, he never bothered to restring it and kept playing with the strings in reverse order. A multi-instrumentalist, Lagerwey worked as a lead guitarist and arranger for Carel Brouwers, played piano for singer-songwriter Marianne Ligthart, co-wrote songs for the Achterhoek-based band Opticks and for a number of years played keyboard in the P3 house band. He occasionally works on solo projects, of which Spring to Fall is one, and agrees with Joe Perry, who has said: ‘Music is music. You don’t have
to put a label on it.’
